I often hear prayers where God is asked to repair in us all that is broken, strengthen what is weak, bind what is bruised, heal what is sick, change what is not good, take away what is dark. Though I do understand in principal what this prayer is attempting to ask God to do, it is also clear to me today that ultimately it is founded in this view that we are dirty, sick, dark, and plain disgusting in His sight.
How about we try and see things as they really are and take the above prayer and maybe ask God to give us eyes that will be able to see within ourselves all that is lovely, pure, holy, whole, healthy, strong, and beautiful about our real identity that is In Christ?
Remember – What we focus on we also empower over our lives. Choose to see who God sees when he looks at you and not the one that you think He sees.
