Take some time today to consider that when Jesus stands at the door of your heart he is knocking from the inside and not from the outside. Consider also that when you open the door and he comes in and dines with you he is talking about the reality of his life and presence within you beginning to flow into and through every part of your daily life and not suddenly into your heart.
Remember the bible is clear when it says that the heart is the wellspring where life begins. We are therefore a river which is supposed to flow out and not a reservoir that needs to be only filled so that it can hoard the waters for itself. We are meant to be agents of flow through whom the living waters of the Kingdom can go out and bring life not only to us but to everyone else we come into contact with. In Israel there are two Seas that are inland. One is the Sea of Galilee and the other one the Dead Sea. The Galilee allows the waters of the Jordan River to flow through it as it freely permits them to continue towards the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea, unlike the Galilee, does not share what it freely receives with another body of water. The Galilee today is still around despite there being many reasons scientifically why it should not be. The Dead Sea on the other hand instead of overflowing is slowly dying and unless something dramatic happens it will be gone forever by circa 2050.
Life, like a river, is at its best when you let it flow… from the heart!
