When we give others love, value, respect, and make them feel like they are worth something we are doing the same thing Jesus did. Now if people take what we freely give to them and try and use it for their ill gain against us then what they are showing us is that they are not aware that they are indeed loved, respected, and valued by God.
The way we respond to the kindness and love others extend to us says much about our understanding of whom we truly are and what we believe God feels about us. We are responsible only for what we give and not how others choose to use it. Our giving if its done from a loving heart and is not self serving will bless and set others free, instead of making them our prisoners and holding them at ransom until they respond how we think they should. We need to be careful that our giving is not a way of presenting an invoice to others that must be then paid in full as this is more in line with lending that it has ever been with giving.
Therefore, let us continue to do good because this is how we have chosen to live and not because of what we could get in return.
