A few years go we had an amazing day with some friends of ours. We went for a boat ride and enjoyed the beautiful garden on their property afterwards as the kids played. As always I was only too happy to stay in the moment and enjoy all that Dad was freely giving us.
This approach to life I aim to practice helped me to capture a moment which truly touched my heart. In the evening after we had finished eating, Tony our host, asked Gisella if she wanted strawberry cup cakes which of course Gisella had no problem in saying yes. Some time later after Gisella had devoured two of them our host said with a smile on his face “Dad really knew that I would need the cupcakes today as they literally jumped off the shelf when I walked by them” Little did he know that he had indeed heard the voice of the King…
You see what our host didn’t know was that Gisella loves cupcakes but most of all she loves strawberry cup cakes. This meant that as I sat there and heard him say this a cord was struck within my heart as I began to get emotional thinking how amazing this Dad of ours is. Here is a little girl that as far as she was concerned it would have been a great day either way whether she did or she didn’t have the cupcakes, yet Dad knew that if she did not only would her dinner be what she loves but her dad would also be able to capture something new within his heart.
Today it might a difficult day as you work through some situations that are not pleasant or perhaps you are in a good season where all seems to be well or maybe in between these two. Whichever and wherever you are I want to encourage you no matter where you find yourself in your journey that Dad is fully aware of all things and no detail has escaped him. That day he showed me not only that he is aware of even those things we feel are in our view insignificant but he also clearly experiences great joy when he sees his kids smile as he surprises them with the unexpected.
May we therefore continue to journey present enough that we can even notice when the King of the Universe takes a moment to make sure that a little girl had her favorite dessert after dinner. For these are the moments that the magic of this Kingdom that lives within us is found and Jesus said we only needed to use the right eyes to be able to witness them!
