If we choose to find fulfillment in our lives by attempting to fix others we are going to often find ourselves in relationships that all they will do is wear us down and in time, if we remain within them, destroy us.
I know in my own life as I look back one of the main reasons why I always tried to fix others was because it was a great way to distract myself from my own brokenness and pain. As I immersed myself within this never-ending activity I not only robbed myself from the freedom that God was always extending to me but I also robbed others from experiencing the same thing. In the Kingdom inner healing is found when we are still just like a person who is receiving physical healing through an operation. They lay there still so they can allow the people that can help them heal to do their job. Moving around and trying to help them and others will only cause more damage to themselves and those they pretend to help.
We can only give what we have. Unattended wounding will only reproduce more wounding, no matter how well meaning the help is, just like healing will reproduce healing. Let us therefore consider today the possibility, that if we are prone to find ourselves in these kind of relationships, that it was never God whom asked us to enter into them as much as it was our own ego trying to play a role it was never designed to and do what only God is capable of doing.
Have a liberating week!
